Notes from a Symposium
In summer 2002 I had the pleasure to join the symposium "Dance as Possibility, Dance as Casualty: Movement and the Stakes of Dance Making”, curated by Jasmine Johnson, organized by the School of Dance MFA, University of the Arts. Overwhelmed by the brilliance of the presenters, I took 30 pages of note in a state of trance. In the following months, I revisited this document of intense learning over and over again, and extracted illuminating words and phrases from every page.
